🛠 Installation and Initial Setup

Installing the Extension

1. Go to the Chrome Web Store
2. Click "Add to Chrome"
3. Setting as Default New Tab Page

After installation, the extension automatically replaces the standard new tab page with your personal notepad. Now every time you open a new tab (Ctrl+T / Cmd+T), you'll see your notes!

✍️ Note-Taking Basics

Creating Notes

Simply start typing in the note area. All changes are saved automatically - no "Save" button needed!

Limitations

• Maximum note size: 25,000 characters
• Warning appears when limit is exceeded
• Character counter displayed at bottom of page

Automatic Formatting

The extension automatically recognizes and formats:

• URLs - become clickable links
• To do lists - [] syntax creates interactive checkboxes

📋 Working with To Do Lists

Creating Checkboxes

To create an interactive to do list, use the following syntax:

[] Incomplete task
[x] Completed task

Step-by-step instructions:

1. Type [] (square brackets with space)
2. Add a space after the brackets
3. Write the task text
4. Press space - the checkbox automatically becomes interactive!

Managing Tasks

• Mark as completed: click the checkbox
• Create new task: press Enter at the end of a checkbox line
• Delete task: delete the entire line text

Text Formatting

Standard browser formatting:

• Bold text: Ctrl+B / Cmd+B
• Italic text: Ctrl+I / Cmd+I
• Underlined text: Ctrl+U / Cmd+U

Creating lists:

• To do list: use [] for interactive checkboxes
• Simple lists: manually type symbols like *, - or numbers 1., 2. (no automatic formatting)

Automatic Synchronization

Your notes automatically synchronize:

• With every change - instant saving
• Every 30 seconds - forced synchronization
• On page load - restores latest version

Where Data is Stored

• Locally: in browser for quick access
• Chrome Sync: in your Google account via Chrome Sync
• Security: data is encrypted and accessible only to you

Access from Different Devices

Sign into Chrome with the same Google account on any device:

• Computer (Windows, Mac, Linux)
• Laptop
• Work computer

🎯 Advanced Features

Working with Links

• Paste any URL - it automatically becomes a clickable link
• Links open in new tab
• Supports HTTP, HTTPS, and FTP protocols

Content Insertion

• Plain text: inserted as-is
• Formatted text: preserves basic formatting
• Images: inserted as image links

Character Counter

• Displayed at bottom of screen
• Shows total character count
• When text is selected, shows selected character count
• Warns when approaching 25,000 character limit

🚨 Troubleshooting

Notes Not Syncing

1. Check internet connection
2. Ensure you're signed into Google account in Chrome
3. Check if sync is enabled in Chrome settings
4. Reload the tab (F5)

Notes Disappeared

1. Open a new tab - notes should restore
2. Check other devices with the same Google account
3. Notes may restore automatically within a few minutes

Extension Not Working

1. Restart browser
2. Check that extension is enabled at chrome://extensions/
3. Reinstall extension from Chrome Web Store

Formatting Issues

1. Use standard browser keyboard shortcuts
2. For checkboxes, use exact syntax: [] text
3. Make sure to put a space after the closing bracket
